Work Certificates and Documentation
On completion of all notifiable electrical work, we issue the relevant certification confirming the installation has been inspected and tested to current standards. As a NICEIC-registered contractor, we self-certify our work under Part P of the Building Regulations, which means you do not need to arrange a separate inspection with your local authority — we handle the notification and the certification. Certificates are sent by email to the property owner, landlord, tenant, or business as required.
Depending on the type of work, you will receive either an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for new installations, or a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate (MEIWC) for smaller additions and alterations. Do I need permission for electrical installation work?
Certain types of electrical work are classed as notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, meaning they must either be carried out by a registered competent person or submitted to the local authority for inspection. As a NICEIC-registered contractor, ATO Solutions can self-certify notifiable work, which means you do not need to make a separate application to your local authority. We handle all certification and notification as part of the job.
How do I know if my consumer unit needs replacing?
Older fuse boards using rewirable fuses rather than circuit breakers, or consumer units without RCD protection, are likely candidates for replacement. An EICR will identify whether your consumer unit meets current standards. Signs that a replacement may be needed include regularly blown fuses, a consumer unit that feels warm to the touch, or visible scorching around the unit. Call us if you are unsure and we will advise.
How long does a full rewire take?
For a typical three-bedroom house, a full rewire usually takes three to five days, depending on the size of the property and the complexity of the existing installation. We will give you a realistic programme when we quote, and discuss how to manage the work if the property is occupied.
Will you tidy up after installation work?
Yes. We take care to protect floors, carpets, and furniture during the work, and we leave the property clean on completion. Where installation requires chasing into walls, we make good on completion — though full plastering or decorating may be a separate trade depending on the scope of work.
What certificate will I receive after the work is completed?
